Murphs Rugby Programs


Welcome to Murphs Rugby!


Murphs Rugby Football Club (MRFC) is proud to bring the fastest-growing sport in the United States to Greenville, Texas, and the surrounding areas. We offer a comprehensive suite of rugby programs that cater to all ages, genders, and skill levels, from five-year-olds taking their first tag to adults seeking competitive play or a fun fitness routine.

We are dedicated to building a strong, inclusive rugby community focused on teamwork, respect, and character development through youth, adult, and adaptive programs.



1. Youth Programs (Ages 5-18)


We offer flag and tackle rugby programs designed for boys and girls across all school ages. Beginners are always welcome!

Flag RugbyGrades K–8, Boys & GirlsThe ideal entry point for the sport, focusing on running, passing, and teamwork in a non-contact environment. Divisions: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, Girls Middle School, Boys Middle School.
Youth TackleGrades 5–8, Boys & GirlsIntroduces the fundamentals of tackle rugby, emphasizing safe contact, rucking, mauling, and set pieces. Divisions: U12 Tackle & U14 Tackle.
High School TackleGrades 9–12, Boys & GirlsFull competitive rugby focused on advanced skills, game strategy, and preparing players for collegiate and club rugby. Divisions: Freshman/Sophomore (Froshmore) and Varsity.

2. Adult Programs


Murphs RFC offers a pathway for players who have aged out of our youth system, college players returning home, and anyone interested in playing competitive or recreational full-contact rugby.

3. Adaptive Programs


We are committed to making rugby accessible to everyone.

The Adaptive Program is designed to provide individuals with cognitive or physical disabilities the opportunity to participate in a modified, safe, and fun rugby environment. We focus on movement, skills, and the core values of the sport in a supportive setting.

4. Rugby Style Fitness Program


Get fit the Murphs way—without the contact!

This program is a high-intensity, rugby-inspired workout regimen that focuses on the explosive power, endurance, and functional strength required for the game. It is a fantastic alternative to traditional gym routines, focusing on cardio conditioning, strength circuits, and dynamic movement. Open to all fitness levels.

5. Social Touch Rugby


Fun, fast, and social. All skill levels welcome!

Our Social Touch Rugby Program is a low-commitment, co-ed option focusing on the social and fitness aspects of the game. It is perfect for beginners, parents, former players, or those looking for a fun, active way to meet people. This program is purely recreational and promotes camaraderie and fitness.

Financial Aid & Scholarships


At Murphs Rugby Football Club, we believe that financial circumstances should never prevent a child or adult from participating in the game. We offer Need-Based Scholarships which can provide significant discounts or waive program fees entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)


  • Are beginners welcome?

    Yes! Most of our players start with zero experience. Our certified coaches are dedicated to teaching the game in a safe, fun, and positive environment.

  • Can girls play rugby?

    Absolutely! Girls are welcome in all K-8 coed programs. We also offer dedicated divisions for Middle School girls, and we are working to grow a competitive High School Girls Tackle division.  And last but not least Womens Adult Tackle programs.

  • What equipment do I need?

    Flag players can wear sneakers or cleats (recommended). Tackle players require a mouthguard and cleats. Optional gear includes a soft-shell scrum cap and shoulder/chest padding.

  • Will my child get playing time?

    Yes. Everyone plays! Consistent attendance at practice is the key to maximizing playing time in our tackle programs.



Player Welfare: Safety First


Murphs Rugby Football Club adheres to all USA Rugby and World Rugby player welfare policies. Rugby is a contact sport, but player safety is our highest priority.

  • Certified Coaches: All MRFC coaches are USA Rugby trained and certified.

  • Concussion Protocol: We follow a detailed concussion protocol with mandatory rest periods and a graduated return-to-play process.

  • Certified Officials: All tackle matches are officiated by certified referees trained to enforce strict rules against foul play.

  • Protective Gear: A mouthguard is mandatory for all tackle players.
